Abstract: This research studies the realization patterns of negation in Niujie Bai dialect under the theoretic framework of systemic
functional typology. Our study holds that there are language typology features of academic value in Niujie dialect in the following four
aspects. Firstly, along the word-grammar cline, there are at least two ways to realize the meaning of negation in Niujie Bai dialect.
Secondly, the realization of negation is in relatedness with Modality in Niujie Bai dialect. Thirdly, negative words can mark tense and
modality in Niujie Bai dialect. Finally, duplicate negatives are found in Niujie Bai dialect.
